The Presnensky District Court of Moscow has sentenced blogger Husein Hasanov in absentia to four years in a general-regime colony in a money laundering case. He was also fined 1 million rubles, and his property was confiscated to the state. The court found Hasanov guilty of failing to pay taxes amounting to millions of rubles. The blogger is currently on the wanted list.
On August 4, 2026, the Presnensky District Court sentenced blogger Husein Hasanov in absentia to four years in a colony and a fine of 1 million rubles in a money laundering case. The court also ordered the confiscation of a non-residential property in the Presnensky district of Moscow worth 46 million rubles. The sentence will begin after his detention or extradition. The prosecution had requested a six-year prison term.
Hasanov was found guilty under Article 174.1 of the Russian Criminal Code. The investigation established that, while working as an individual entrepreneur, he paid taxes at a reduced rate that did not correspond to his actual income level. As a result, a tax arrears of more than 170 million rubles accumulated. The blogger legalized part of the money through financial transactions and the purchase of real estate worth over 68 million rubles.
Hasanov previously stated that the situation looks more serious than it actually is. His defense insisted on the absence of a crime. The blogger's lawyer, Dmitry Kozyakin, also noted that the case should have been returned to the investigation to address shortcomings. After the verdict was announced, the defense said that the blogger wants to return to Russia.
Hasanov was born in St. Petersburg. He gained fame through humorous videos and pranks on social media. While studying at St. Petersburg State University of Economics, he played in KVN, then briefly ran a family restaurant business, after which he moved to Moscow and focused on blogging. His audience now exceeds 30 million subscribers. In 2017 and 2018, he received the "Blogger of the Year" award and participated in a meeting of bloggers with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Husein Hasanov created an online course called "Millionaire Mindset," in which he promised to help participants learn to achieve their goals, increase income, and get rid of debts. Critics consider this course an example of "infogypsy" practices.
