The communication and information and communication technology (ICT) services sector in Uzbekistan continued its rapid growth in the first five months of 2026. The volume of services increased by more than one-fifth compared to the same period last year, primarily due to the development of software development and telecommunications.
This is evidenced by data published by the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the agency, in January–May 2026, the volume of communication and informatization services reached 39 trillion soums (about $3.2 billion), which is 22.2% more than in the same period in 2025.
The largest share in the sector is still occupied by software development. During the reporting period, the volume of services in this area amounted to 18 trillion soums (about $1.5 billion). Next come telecommunication services with a volume of 11.6 trillion soums (approximately $966 million), information services — 5.9 trillion soums (about $491 million), and other communication and ICT services — 3.5 trillion soums (about $291 million).
These indicators demonstrate the continued development of Uzbekistan's digital economy amid growing demand for software development, digital services, and telecommunications infrastructure.
