In June 2026, production of new energy vehicles (NEV) in China reached 1.624 million units, up 29.4% year-on-year, accounting for 57.5% of total vehicle output for the month.
This is according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics. Total vehicle production in June stood at 2.824 million units, down 0.2% from a year earlier. Internal combustion engine vehicles accounted for 1.2 million units, or 42.5% of total output.
"In June, 2.824 million vehicles were produced, down 0.2% year-on-year, including 1.624 million new energy vehicles, whose production rose 29.4%," the bureau said.
The statistics agency also noted that industrial growth remains uneven. In June, production of railway equipment, ships, aerospace and other transport equipment increased 18.2% year-on-year, while output of computer and communication equipment rose 15.7%. At the same time, several traditional industries saw declines. Cement production fell 5.6% to 144.23 million tons.
