The scenario in which a complete shutdown of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) is possible is not currently being considered, said Asel Serikpaeva, adviser to the minister and official representative of Kazakhstan's Energy Ministry.
"Information about a possible full shutdown of CPC has appeared in some media outlets. This scenario is not being considered," Serikpaeva said in a comment distributed on Saturday.
The day before, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that CPC plans an indefinite suspension of oil operations.
According to the media, at an emergency meeting of CPC shareholders, the issue of suspending the pipeline's operations was considered until security guarantees are provided to ensure exports without attacks on oil tankers. Such guarantees should be provided by Ukraine or other states, including the United States, the media wrote.
