This was stated by Ramid Namazov, chairman of the parliamentary temporary commission on countering foreign interference and hybrid threats, during a public discussion on 'Digital Development, Artificial Intelligence, and Protection of Children from Harmful Effects of Social Network Platforms'.

According to him, the experience of several developed countries was thoroughly studied during the preparation of the bill.

'The issue of information security in Azerbaijan also implies the protection of children's psychological health and future. Based on the amendments, a minimum age for creating accounts on social networks has been established, and the responsibility of providers has been significantly increased. Platforms are now obliged to implement continuously operating digital solutions to prevent the spread of harmful content that threatens the life, health, sexual integrity, honor, and dignity of children, and to remove such content immediately upon detection,' the MP noted.

He added that the protection of children's personal data has also been strengthened: except for age verification purposes, it is prohibited to use minors' personal data for commercial purposes or targeted advertising, as well as to transfer it to third parties.
