The Russian construction industry maintains good momentum; the number of families that improved their housing conditions in January-June 2026 increased by 3.7% compared to the same period last year, said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
"Despite the difficult situation, the construction industry maintains good momentum. Thus, in the first half of 2026, about 1.8 million families improved their housing conditions – this is 3.7% more than in the same period last year. (...) But good dynamics is not a reason to relax: ahead is the second half of the year and the fulfillment of annual plans. We will try to maintain the pace and do everything so that as many families as possible feel positive changes," Khusnullin is quoted as saying on the Russian government website.
The Deputy Prime Minister reminded that in the first half of 2026, about 42.8 million square meters of housing were commissioned in the country. At the same time, the commissioning of apartment buildings increased by 8%, reaching 16.1 million square meters.
In turn, Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities Nikita Stasishin noted that the most widespread mortgage program with state support remains the family mortgage.
"Under it, in the first half of the year, 204.6 thousand loans were issued for 1.2 trillion rubles," Stasishin cited data.
He also drew attention to the fact that the segment of individual housing has growth potential.
"We are now working on the development of the individual housing construction market, which will have a positive impact on housing affordability," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
