Georgia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a $250 million loan agreement for the construction of a bypass road around Tbilisi.

The document was signed by Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and ADB Country Director for Georgia Leslie Berman Lam.

The project will include the construction of the middle section of the bypass road, approximately 18.9 km long with four lanes. The funds will be used to finance the construction of Lot 4 (Tbilisi International Airport - Lochini) and Lot 5 (Lochini - Rustavi).

The implementation of the project will help ease traffic flow in the Georgian capital, improve the safety of transit transportation, and expand the capacity of Georgia's international transport corridors.

The project will be implemented by the Department of Roads under the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia.
