This issue was discussed during a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, held in Ashgabat.
During the meeting, the sides discussed expanding cooperation in transport, tourism, trade and investment.
Special attention was paid to developing the transit potential of the two countries and strengthening transport links between Asia and Europe. In particular, Turkmenistan will continue to provide preferential tariffs for Azerbaijani vessels at the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
In addition, the sides agreed to accelerate work on the project to lay a telecommunications cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea.
"The sides also focused on developing tourism ties and expanding business contacts. In particular, the possibility of launching direct regular flights between Ashgabat and Baku with a frequency of twice a week was considered. Furthermore, as part of developing business contacts, mutual business missions and familiarization trips for entrepreneurs of the two countries to cities of Azerbaijan, including Agdam, Fuzuli, Shusha, Khankendi and Nakhchivan, are planned," the information notes.
Following the meeting, the sides signed a package of joint documents.
The next meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation will be held in Azerbaijan.
