This was stated to journalists by the General Director of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Vusal Gurbanov on the sidelines of the 11th Azerbaijan International Insurance Forum (AIIF-2026).

He noted that work is currently underway to improve individual compulsory accident insurance.

"The issue concerns updating the types of insurance related to compulsory accident insurance. We are studying international experience and taking these nuances into account within the framework of the concept being developed," Gurbanov said.

He added that the CBA also plans to introduce some changes to the legislative framework in other areas, in particular, in the form of compulsory motor insurance (OSAGO).

"Currently, the sum insured for material damage is 5,000 manats and it is automatically renewed. In other words, even if a citizen's property is damaged for 5,000 manats, this limit is not reset. The amount automatically returns to the limit of 5,000 manats. This is an automatically renewable insurance limit."

Gurbanov added that in various insurance products, when a payment is made, the total insurance limit is reduced by the amount of compensation provided: "However, the rules in the direction of the aforementioned insurance differ; the insurance limit remains at the same level, thereby protecting the insured."
