Azerbaijan's foreign policy in the Central Asian direction has entered a qualitatively new stage in recent years. Against the backdrop of deepening integration within the Organization of Turkic States, the growing geostrategic importance of the Middle Corridor, and global geopolitical processes, relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan are also acquiring new content. The decisions made and documents signed during the state visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the Kyrgyz Republic are regarded as an important political event, indicating the transition of relations between the two countries from strategic partnership to alliance. Azer Allahverenov, a member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and a member of the working group on Azerbaijan–Kyrgyzstan interparliamentary relations, stated that the state visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the Kyrgyz Republic became an important geopolitical event that officially cemented the transition of Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz relations from strategic partnership to alliance.
According to the deputy, the visit clearly demonstrates joint efforts aimed at bringing ties between the two fraternal republics to the highest level, as well as the display of important political will to move relations to a new stage.
"In this context, it can be said with full confidence that Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz relations are entering a new stage. The transition from strategic partnership to alliance is already quite evident, and as a result, the strategic partnership between the two countries is rising to an allied level. This is primarily reflected in concrete actions aimed at further deepening cooperation in the spheres of economy, trade, transport, energy, agriculture, culture, and humanitarian ties," the deputy said.
Azer Allahverenov noted that the historically deep ties between the Azerbaijani and Kyrgyz peoples, common Turkic identity, shared history, language, and culture form a solid foundation for the development of relations between the two countries. According to him, it is this foundation that allows building strategic partnership at the highest level. The deputy stressed that measures taken in recent years to strengthen cooperation between the two states have brought the friendly and fraternal countries even closer, and the partnership itself is already developing on a systematic basis through various institutional mechanisms.
"The holding of the third meeting of the Interstate Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic, the elevation of political dialogue to a higher level, the definition of a concrete roadmap for expanding economic cooperation, as well as important agreements on developing humanitarian interaction in new directions have further strengthened the institutional basis of these relations. The activities of the Interstate Council and the intensive contacts established between other state structures show that relations have indeed already reached an allied level, and their real results are becoming increasingly visible," he emphasized.
The deputy stated that one of the most important issues is linking political dialogue with strategic partnership and creating favorable conditions for the effective use of the economic potential of both countries.
"Currently, the implementation of energy projects and the development of transport and logistics infrastructure are among the priority areas.
