Hikmat Hajiyev, aide to the President of Azerbaijan, said in a post on social media platform X on the occasion of National Press Day that Azerbaijani media will expand their positions in the global information space while remaining true to their principles and contributing to the strengthening of patriotism and national solidarity.
Hajiyev noted that the development path of the Azerbaijani press, founded on July 22, 1875, by Hasan bey Zardabi, is an example of patriotism and loyalty to the ideals of statehood. The media policy initiated under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev in the mid-1990s ensured freedom of speech and pluralism of opinions, laying the foundation for professional media.
During the 44-day Patriotic War, Azerbaijani media played an important role in conveying the country's just voice to the world community and exposing information provocations. Hajiyev quoted President Ilham Aliyev: "Today, our media have gained enormous authority not only within the country but also internationally... They have achieved great success in exposing unfounded accusations against Azerbaijan."
Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijani media are adapting to modern realities, introducing advanced technologies, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. "We are confident that our media will further expand the positions they have achieved in the global information space," he concluded, congratulating journalists on their professional holiday.
