Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), part of AZCON Holding, together with Uzum Bank, has introduced new online payment options for air tickets for passengers from Uzbekistan. Now, on the airline's official website, tickets can be purchased using national payment cards HUMO and Uzcard through Uzum Bank's secure payment infrastructure.
The new solution aims to enhance the convenience and accessibility of digital services for passengers traveling between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as to other destinations in the airline's route network.
Uzbekistan remains one of the key and most dynamically developing markets for Azerbaijan Airlines in Central Asia. Currently, the airline operates 7 weekly flights on the Baku-Tashkent route and, since April last year, 2 weekly flights on the Baku-Samarkand route, contributing to steady passenger traffic growth between the two countries. Over the past six months, passenger numbers on the Baku-Tashkent and Baku-Samarkand routes have increased by 58% and 174%, respectively, reflecting growing interest in business, tourism, and cultural travel between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
"We strive to make travel as convenient as possible at every stage, from route selection to ticket purchase. Expanding payment options for passengers from Uzbekistan is an important step in developing digital services and improving the customer experience. The integration of modern financial technologies ensures a high level of transaction security and makes the booking process as comfortable as possible for users," said Jamil Manizade, CCO of Azerbaijan Airlines.
"We are seeing sustainable growth in mutual interest between residents of the two countries: the intensity of air traffic between Tashkent and Baku already exceeds 12-15 regular flights per week, and the overall international passenger traffic in both republics shows annual growth. Our task as a fintech platform is to support this growing mobility with seamless digital and financial tools," noted Roman Lavrentiev, CEO of Uzum FinTech.
Azerbaijan's national carrier continues to consistently develop digital services, offering passengers modern, secure, and convenient solutions for travel planning and ticket purchases.
