The decision was made following an investigation conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Competition Code, which provides for control over certain actions of natural monopoly entities.

During the investigation, contracts and other legal documents related to the organization of internet services on board aircraft were analyzed. As a result, the State Agency positively assessed the request of Azerbaijan Airlines on the condition that the internet service will be provided exclusively at the passenger's choice.

In response to a request from Report, AZAL stated that under the new service, internet connectivity will be provided via Viasat satellite communication technology.

It was noted that passengers will be able to use unlimited high-speed internet during the flight at affordable prices.

Business class passengers, as well as members of the AZAL Miles loyalty program with Elite and Platinum statuses, will be able to use the onboard internet service for free. To do so, they simply need to enter their first name, last name, and seat number on the internet connection portal.

Through the internet connection portal, passengers can also connect to the onboard entertainment system without additional charge and enjoy movies, music, and other digital content.

The onboard internet service is currently available on AZAL's new-generation aircraft types Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo. In the future, this service will be provided to passengers on all new-generation aircraft that enter the fleet.
