Uzbekistan and Turkey have agreed to expand the list of goods covered by the preferential trade regime, a move expected to boost bilateral trade turnover to $5 billion.
The relevant protocol was signed following a meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Working Group on the Preferential Trade Agreement. The meeting took place during an official visit to Uzbekistan by a Turkish delegation led by Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu. The Uzbek side was represented by Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Akram Aliyev.
During the third round of negotiations, the parties agreed on a parity-based expansion of the list of goods eligible for preferential treatment, taking into account mutual interests. Following the meeting, a protocol was signed providing for the inclusion of new product categories. The Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade noted that the decisions taken will contribute to the development of bilateral trade, growth of exports and imports, and the achievement of the target trade turnover of $5 billion.
