President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made this statement at a joint session of the chambers of parliament, commenting on the results of the national economy's development.

According to Tokayev, despite the worsening global situation and growing international challenges, Kazakhstan continues to pursue a balanced policy and move forward confidently.

The President noted that last year Kazakhstan's economy grew by 6.5%. The country's gross domestic product exceeded $300 billion, and GDP per capita reached $15,000.

The head of state emphasized that this is one of the highest indicators among CIS countries and a record result for the Central Asian region.

Tokayev also stated that Kazakhstan managed to slow inflation. Over the first five months of this year, it decreased to 10.4%. At the same time, according to the president, work to further reduce inflation must continue.

The Kazakh leader separately noted the stability of the financial system and stated that the national currency is reliably protected from external risks. He emphasized that the new Budget and Tax Codes have rebooted the economic system and laid the foundation for forming a new model of Kazakhstan's economy.
