Kazakhstan's Food Contract Corporation (Prodkorporatsiya) is considering the possibility of building a grain terminal in one of three Russian sea ports, the republic's Ministry of Agriculture reported.
"Prodkorporatsiya is considering the future possibility of building a grain terminal on the territory of the Russian Federation, the implementation of which will be an important step in strengthening cooperation between our countries, which are major producers and exporters of grain. At the same time, we consider it most preferable to consider placing the terminal in one of the sea ports of the Russian Federation on the Black, Azov, or Baltic Seas," the ministry said in response to an agency request.
Approximate construction timelines were not disclosed.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that Kazakhstan is holding negotiations with Russia on the construction of additional export infrastructure facilities due to the growth in grain production and export potential.
"The proposed initiative of Kazakhstan will strengthen the export infrastructure of the two countries and deepen the integration of grain markets. For the Kazakh side, the implementation of this project will create opportunities for establishing new export routes to expand the presence of Kazakh grain on world markets," the ministry added.
Prodkorporatsiya currently owns grain terminals in the port of Aktau on the Caspian Sea, in the Iranian port of Amirabad, and in the port of Baku.
Earlier in July, Saken Kanybekov, head of the State Inspection Committee in the Agro-Industrial Complex of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture, announced at the exhibition "All-Russian Field Day - 2026" the initiative of Prodkorporatsiya to build a grain terminal in Russia.
Prodkorporatsiya is part of the structure of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture. The company was established in 1995 to maintain the state grain reserve, stabilize the domestic grain market, and facilitate the export of Kazakh grain, including representing the republic's interests in export markets.
