According to Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Minister Farzaneh Sadegh made the remarks at a meeting in Tehran with members of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.
"Attracting investment in the country's northern ports, strengthening freight transport and transit diplomacy, developing cooperation with regional countries, and developing the eastern and western terminals of the country are of great importance for Iran," she said.
Sadegh added that during visits to regional countries, including a trip to Kazakhstan, important agreements were reached on the development of transit corridors, and there has been a full increase in the volume of freight transit through Iran.
The Iranian minister noted that the process of laying rails on the Chabahar-Zahedan railway line, one of the country's important railway projects, is ongoing. The rail-laying will be completed by the end of the summer months. The Chabahar-Zahedan railway line is expected to be commissioned in September or October.
It is worth noting that the total length of the Chabahar-Zahedan railway line in Iran, including railway stations, is 786 kilometers. Construction work continues on a 634-kilometer section, while 152 kilometers of the line are already operational.
