At the previous round in Barcelona, Spain, Ferrari's British driver Lewis Hamilton ended the winning streak of Mercedes and its driver Kimi Antonelli, who had six and five consecutive wins respectively.

The seven-time world champion is in good form and continues to fight for the title. In the overall standings, he trails Antonelli by 41 points and is nine points ahead of his teammate George Russell.

The Austrian Grand Prix returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2014 after an 11-year hiatus. The circuit is located in Spielberg and features four straights and ten corners. Drivers are at full throttle for about 66% of the lap.

Among current drivers, winners of the Austrian Grand Prix include Lewis Hamilton (2016), Valtteri Bottas (2017, 2020), Max Verstappen (2018, 2019, 2021, 2023), Charles Leclerc (2022), George Russell (2024), and Lando Norris (2025). The first free practice session will start on Friday at 15:30 Baku time, the second at 18:00. On Saturday, the third practice session (14:30 Baku time) and qualifying (17:00) will take place. The race will be held on Sunday and will start at 17:00 Baku time.
