During operations carried out by the cyber police, Jamal Ahmedov, accused of involving citizens in illegal bookmaking through the banned platform 1xBet, as well as Hajjiakbar Abbaszade, Seyfaddin Ismayilov, Nabi Abdullayev, and Emil Abbasli, who acted under his leadership, were detained.
According to the investigation, Ahmedov rented an apartment in the Khatai district of Baku and organized illegal online gambling on the 1xBet platform using the BakuCash profile.
Clients were attracted to this illegal activity primarily through the Telegram application. At the specified address, numerous mobile phones, bank cards, and other electronic storage devices used for organizing and managing the gambling were found and seized. The preliminary investigation established that the illegal turnover of the criminal group exceeded 1 million manats.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Main Department under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Ahmedov, Ismayilov, Abdullayev, and Abbasli have been brought in as accused persons, and a preventive measure of arrest has been selected for them by court decision.
