Cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX will cease operations on September 23, 2026, following a strategic review conducted by its parent company, HDR Global Trading Limited. Registration of new users has been immediately suspended.
The platform will continue to operate normally until closure, but from August 26, users will only be able to reduce positions, with the opening of new positions restricted. All remaining positions at the time of closure will be forcibly liquidated.
Users who have completed KYC verification must withdraw their assets before closure to avoid an account management fee of $50 per month or 1% of the balance, whichever is greater.
BitMEX warns users about potential phishing attacks related to the closure and notes that withdrawal processing may be delayed due to blockchain confirmation times, although all assets exceed liabilities.
