As of July 1, 2026, Azerbaijan's external public debt amounted to $4.6168 billion, with 86.4% of obligations denominated in dollars.
According to FinFly, citing the Ministry of Finance, the share of euros in the debt structure is 6.1%, SDR (Special Drawing Rights) – 2.9%, Japanese yen – 3.1%, and other currencies – 1.5%.
Nearly half of the external debt – 49.4% – is at floating interest rates, while 50.6% of obligations have fixed rates.
By maturity, 59.5% of external debt is due within five years, 34.9% in five to ten years, and 5.6% in more than ten years.
Taking into account existing credit agreements and eurobonds, the average maturity of external public debt is 4.8 years.
In the structure of external public debt, 59.8% is owed to multilateral financial institutions, 30% to government eurobonds, and 10.2% to loans from bilateral financial institutions.
