The discussion will take place at a meeting of the Council of Oman (parliament) tomorrow.

Deputies will consider a draft Agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of tax evasion.

Secretary General of the Council of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Nadabi, noted that the parliament continues to fulfill its legislative functions by reviewing submitted bills, agreements, and proposals, thereby contributing to the improvement of the legislative framework and state policy.

According to him, the upcoming session will also consider a draft law regulating the prevention of disconnection of essential utilities for low-income families, laid-off workers, and individuals in difficult life situations. The initiative aims to create a legal framework ensuring a balance between the rights of service recipients and the obligations of service providers.

In addition, deputies will review a number of proposals and reports from standing committees on economic, social, and infrastructure development. In particular, these include the development of a knowledge economy, the creation of a system linking corporate taxation procedures with government payments, assessing the effectiveness of economic diplomacy, improving social housing programs and preferential mortgage lending, analyzing Omanization policies in the tourism sector, as well as the prospects and challenges of creating future agricultural cities.
